Everton striker Salomon Rondon questioned by Martin Keown

Martin Keown questioned Everton striker Salomon Rondon for one moment against Manchester United in the Premier League.

In the first half, Abdoulaye Doucoure found the 32-year-old in the box with a clever pass, and Rondon took too long to get his shot away, and it was blocked.

Speaking on BT, the former Arsenal defender slated Rondon for not taking the opportunity, which turned out to be costly for his side.

“He takes the touch; it sits up nicely.

“I wondered if he might hit that first time.

“It sat up really nicely for him, and he didn’t cash in properly.”

Big chance goes begging.

It is pretty clear that Rondon is not match fit; he barely moved while he was on the pitch but did win a few headers.

However, when handed the chance to make himself a hero at Old Trafford on two occasions, he took too long to get his effort away.

It is a shame for the striker who, if fully sharp, probably would have buried at least one of the two golden chances he missed.

However, it appears as if Dominic Calvert-Lewin will be back by the time he is back up and running, which is a shame for Rondon.

If he had scored either one of these chances, then we would be talking about a very different game, but instead, he has been left to rue what might have been.
