Garth Crooks names Andros Townsend in BBC Team of the Week after Everton 1-1 draw v Manchester United
Garth Crooks was enamoured with Andros Townsend’s goal as Everton claimed a point in Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Manchester United.
The 30-year-old, who joined on a free in the summer after leaving Crystal Palace, struck a second-half equaliser to earn Everton a deserved draw at Old Trafford.
Naming him in his Premier League Team of the Week on the BBC Sport website, Crooks waxed lyrical of the ex-England international.

“My goodness it looks like Andros Townsend is enjoying his football again,” Crooks said.
“I don’t know if it’s the Merseyside air that’s done it, but whatever it is he should continue doing it.
“Having gone through difficult periods in his career at Spurs and Crystal Palace he seems bang in form for Everton.
“His goal against Manchester United was of the highest quality. His first touch with the outside of his left boot was only equalled by a finish of precision with his right foot. David de Gea was rooted.”

Renaissance
Remarkably, Townsend scored just twice in 58 Premier League appearances over his last two seasons for Crystal Palace.
He has three goals in seven league outings for Everton so far.
Townsend looks completely rejuvenated under his old Newcastle United boss Rafa Benitez.
Events went stale for him at Selhurst Park as Wilfried Zaha stole the headlines for the Eagles, while Roy Hodgson’s style of play ensured Townsend was restricted at times.
But he’s been given a new lease of life at Everton, and he’s taking his golden chance with both hands.
There was initial scepticism that greeted his Goodison Park arrival, but he’s proving any doubters wrong.
