Liverpool not keen on signing Everton target Pape Abou Cisse

Liverpool will not make a move for Everton-linked Pape Abou Cisse, according to Sportime journalist Giannis Chorianopoulos.

According to a report in the Daily Mail last week, the Toffees were keen on signing the Senegal international along with the Reds and Arsenal.

However, Chorianopoulos, who is a reputed journalist followed by the likes of Fabrizio Romano, Paul Joyce and James Pearce, claims that Everton’s rivals Liverpool will not make a move for him.

While everyone will hate to admit it, the Reds have a bigger pull than the Toffees in the transfer market given their success in recent years.

The fact that they play every year in the Champions League and can offer heavy wages to players is an additional incentive for them to move to Anfield.

However, the fact that they’re not keen on the 26-year-old, opens the door for Everton to swoop in.

There were links with Kalidou Koulibaly all summer, but nothing ended up materialising and the club failed to sign a centre-back.

By the looks of things, Rafa Benitez is still keen on roping in someone in that area of the pitch, and Cisse, who stands at 6ft 6in, fits the bill perfectly.

In a 2019 profile about him, the Daily Express labelled him as a “dynamic character” who does not get fazed when coming up against stronger teams.

He’s seen a hard-tackling defender who doesn’t shy away from getting stuck in and regaining possession for his side.

While he may be on the slower side, there are plenty of aspects to his game to admire and if we were Marcel Brands we would look to sign him either in January or in the summer.
