Newcastle set to battle with Everton for Aaron Ramsey
Newcastle have reportedly joined Everton in the race to sign Juventus midfielder Aaron Ramsey.
According to Italian media outlet Calciomercato, Ramsey is considering a return to the Premier League.
The Toffees, along with Crystal Palace, made an enquiry recently, but the Toons, after their takeover are now keen on signing the 30-year-old.
Worth the hype?
The Ramsey of three years ago would’ve been an elite addition to most Premier League squads, let alone the three that are keen on signing him.
In his final few months at Arsenal, then manager Unai Emery rated him extremely highly and labelled him an “awesome” player. [Goal]
He was pacey, mobile, and most importantly, had an end product. It is why Juventus wanted to sign him once his deal at Arsenal expired.
They got their way and brought the Wales international to Turin, but it’s fair to say that things have not quite panned out for him there.
He has fallen down the pecking order at Juventus and due to his big wages, he seems to have become a major problem for the Old Lady.
There’s a good chance that they sell him on the cheap in the January transfer window, but he may not be worth the hype.
His injury issues have been apparent and also the lack of game time may have taken away from what made him the player he was a few years ago.
While Newcastle have the money to make these kinds of mistakes, Everton most certainly do not, and must avoid signing him.
