Jamie Carragher: Everton riches incomparable to Newcastle and Man City
Jamie Carragher believes Everton have a lot of money – but not enough to help get them to the next level.
The former Liverpool captain claims that Farhad Moshiri and the Everton owners are extremely wealthy, but they’re unable to match the sort of fees Manchester City and Newcastle could shell out for players.
He thinks this is the kind of stumbling block and blames their financial mismanagement over the last few years as a major reason for them being in a mess with regards to FFP.

In the recent edition of The Overlap, fans of a number of clubs were present with Carragher as one of the panellists.
There, an Everton fan brought up a point of the club having rich owners in comparison to most of the Premier League sides, but only spending a meagre fee on transfers this summer due to financial restrictions.
“You’ve spent so much over the last three years,” Carragher interjected.
“Everton have massive amounts of money but it’s still nothing compared to City, Chelsea or Newcastle, and they’re going to keep getting stronger, leaving teams like Everton somewhere in the middle.”
Facts
The past few summers before the last one have been colossal failures where the club have wasted millions on players not quite up to the mark.
There was even a phase where all Everton did was sign number 10s, giving the managers a selection dilemma as to accommodate all of them in the same starting eleven.

However, last year due to Carlo Ancelotti’s pull, a number of talented players came through the door but resulted in the club landing up in a bad space with regards to FFP.
Benitez, through no fault of his own, paid that price, and it will take him at least until next summer to bring in the players he wants and build this squad in his own image.
As of now, he’s got to make do with relative pittances handed down to him from the board and hope Marcel Brands can do a good job at getting players over the line.
If Everton are to get to that next level, there has to be a radical change in the way their transfer happenings take place.
