Kevin Campbell shares verdict on Rafa Benitez-Newcastle links
We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…
Kevin Campbell has predicted that Everton may have placed a special caveat in Rafa Benitez’s contract after the exit of Carlo Ancelotti.
The Spaniard has been heavily linked with the Newcastle job to eventually replace Steve Bruce after their takeover.
Benitez has ruled himself out of that, and Campbell believes that Everton is the perfect place for him to continue his project.

Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, Campbell said, “No.
“I don’t think so, I think Rafa Benitez is in a job with good owners, he’s got money to spend, that’s for sure.
“Going back, I don’t know, the job he fought so hard to get it and he lives in Liverpool, his home – I just can’t see it.
“What happened with Carlo Ancelotti, I’m sure he’ll have a caveat in his contract that says he can’t, because that hurt.”

No chance.
All of this talk with Newcastle and potentially hunting Benitez was always going to come given their love for the Spaniard.
Thankfully, the Toffees boss values loyalty unlike Ancelotti and is set to stick to his contract at Goodison Park moving forward.
After the exit of James Rodriguez and Moise Kean, there is money to spend and we are only two or three players away from a really competitive squad.
Compare that to Newcastle, who may have more to spend, but they still need to bring in virtually a full squad to make them competitive and that will take years.
Dream on Newcastle, it isn’t happening.
