Kevin Campbell reacts as Everton linked with move for Pape Abou Cisse

We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…

Kevin Campbell has insisted that Everton will be linked with three of four central defenders ahead of the January window.

The Toffees have reportedly been scouting Olympiakos defender Pape Abou Cisse before potentially launching a move in the near future [Daily Mail].

Campbell believes that experience is what Rafa Benitez needs in his defence, something Cisse has in abundance.

Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, Campbell said, “There’s going to be three or four who they’ll probably look at.

“Obviously, in variant leagues and countries but the key is the right fit – you need the right fit and I’m not too sure who will be top of their list.

“For me, you need someone to come in who is experienced, who can make a real difference in that defence.”

Priority?

Given the number of links to central defenders since the summer window shut, it looks as though this could be our priority.

That also must mean that one of our current options is also on the way out, with the biggest candidate currently Mason Holgate.

Looking at the squad though, we would say that full-backs are needed with no real backup options behind Seamus Coleman and Lucas Digne.

As well as that, the final third is also slightly light as our recent injuries have proved so that could be another area.

Either way, it looks as though we are in for some busy windows between now and next summer.
