Newcastle keen to sign Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin
Newcastle United are keen to sign Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin, according to reports from The Telegraph.
The 24-year-old has established himself as one of the finest strikers in the Premier League, and he is now a regular member of Gareth Southgate’s England squad.
Newcastle, who are now one of the richest clubs in the world following the recent change in ownership, have earmarked Calvert-Lewin as a potential option as they look to make necessary incursions in 2022.

The report adds that the Newcastle hierarchy rates Calvert-Lewin highly. The Magpies are keen to sign a top striker in January as they feel Callum Wilson needs more support.
Arsenal and Manchester clubs are also credited with an interest in the Blues striker, as well as an unnamed Bundesliga side. It looks like an ambitious attempt from the Magpies.
Unlikely
Calvert-Lewin was completely transformed by Carlo Ancelotti and he enjoyed a phenomenal 2020-21 campaign, bagging 21 goals.
He has scored three goals thus far before missing the last five games with a toe injury. Rafael Benitez has praised him highly, saying he is a “great” centre-forward.

Calvert-Lewin is the first-choice striker at Everton and there’s no need for him to change clubs at the moment. The Toffees won’t entertain any offers for him either unless there’s a ridiculous amount being offered.
At the same time, Calvert-Lewin probably won’t fancy joining a club that are fighting for survival. Everton, on the other hand, are aiming for a European place, and a move to St James’ Park looks highly unlikely.
If he really wants to move on, he should rather consider joining either of the Manchester clubs, if they at all come up with an offer – heading towards the Nouveau riche certainly doesn’t make enough sense.
