Everton have confirmed that Abdoulaye Doucoure will not require surgery after suffering a stress response in a bone in his foot.

The club have still not confirmed when he'll be back as they're still assessing him at Finch Farm.

However, they have stated that the reports suggesting he would require an operation, are untrue.

They said, via their official website, "Everton can confirm that Abdoulaye Doucoure has suffered a stress response in a bone in his foot sustained during Sunday’s match against West Ham United.

"Contrary to reports, Doucoure will not require an operation."

Could've been worse

Doucoure has been one of Everton's players this season so news of him requiring an operation would've come as a huge shock to the fans.

However, the club decided to allay any fears and stated that it will not be needed.

This will come as welcome news, not only to the fans, but also to Rafa Benitez, who has relied a great deal on the Frenchman.

He's formed a seamless understanding with Allan, and has started in all Premier League games this term.

Benitez will now have a major decision on his hands as to who might replace him and we will not be surprised if he ditches his 4-4-2 formation for a 4-2-3-1.

Tom Davies and Andre Gomes would be two players the Spaniard could consider starting for the Watford game should they be available.
