Fabrizio Romano claims Everton target Donny van de Beek could leave in January
Everton may have received a big boost in their race to sign Donny van de Beek from Manchester United in the January window.
The Toffees were heavily interested in signing the Dutch midfielder in the summer, but the deal didn’t materialise as United pulled the plug in the end.
The 24-year-old has struggled for regular games, and he has been given just six minutes of action in the Premier League.
Signed for around £40m [Daily Mail], Van de Beek has dropped down the pecking order at Old Trafford, and an exit from the club looms large.
He has been linked with a move to his former club Ajax, but reliable journalist Fabrizio Romano has suggested that those are “fake news”.
Romano has suggested that there’s nothing going on between Ajax and United at the moment, but there’s a “huge chance” that Van de Beek could leave the club in January.
Boost for Everton
It has been claimed by Sky Sports earlier this month that Everton are still interested in signing the midfielder, with Marcel Brands refusing to rule out a move for the player.
The news will come as a big boost for the Toffees, and it will be interesting to see if they make a formal offer for him.
With James Rodriguez out of the picture, Everton should look to sign a creative attacking midfielder to add more depth to their squad.

Van de Beek may have struggled for games at United, but he has got tremendous qualities. He would be a fantastic signing for the Toffees if they can get him at a decent price.
