Kevin Campbell reacts to Everton links with Arsenal star Alexandre Lacazette
We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…
Kevin Campbell has insisted that it makes “no sense” for Everton to potentially target Arsenal forward Alexandre Lacazette.
The Toffees have been linked with a move for the Frenchman, and are said to have made contact with his representatives.
Campbell believes Lacazette needs to play in the number nine role, but Dominic Calvert-Lewin won’t be moved for that to happen.

Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, Campbell said, “I just think that Lacazette has got to play the number nine because that’s his game.
“He’s good with his back to goal and brings a lot of quality to the team, a great link-man – but, the number nine is Calvert-Lewin, so I just don’t see how that’s going to work.
“For me, I just don’t see it – it makes no sense.”

No arguments.
Campbell is spot on with his verdict, Lacazette simply has to play number nine or he will struggle being shoehorned into the side elsewhere.
When Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison are fully fit, they will always start – there are no questions around that.
Lacazette would cost too much money in wages alone for him to be sat on the bench, and a big-name attacker like that would surely only arrive should one of our own be sold.
Marcel Brands may be better off targeting a younger striker with great prospect to come in and challenge our main men, eventually taking their spot in the future.
This is one to watch in the near future.
In other Everton news, this Toffees defender is being watched very close with a major exit on the cards
