Van de Beek switches agent amid Everton links

Donny van de Beek has changed his agent after a summer move to Everton failed, according to Telegraaf reporter Mike Verweij.

The Netherlands international midfielder, 24, was looking to leave Manchester United in the summer, with Toffees director of football Marcel Brands alerted to his potential availability through a Dutch intermediary [The Athletic].

Van de Beek has struggled to see action at Old Trafford and has now parted with Guido Albers, and he is set to link up with Ali Dursun having rejected a chance to join Mino Raiola’s agency.

It is unknown what exactly prompted the Dutchman to switch agents, but he clearly is not pleased that he has remained at Man Utd when he wanted out in the summer.

Brands was clearly keen on having van de Beek at Goodison Park and has not ruled out another move in the January transfer window, according to Sky Sports.

The Everton chief will definitely be keeping an eye on things after the latest development at VDB’s camp, and things could get very interesting in January.

Players hardly change agents except when they are trying to engineer a move or land an improved deal, and the former is likely to be the case here.

Everton boss Rafa Benitez is not a huge fan of the midfielder, though, and was considerably less keen on a deal [The Athletic].

However, that could change in January after seeing his side’s recent struggles with creating chances in the middle of the park.

The Toffees are missing a creative spark in midfield, and they could be getting one in the former Ajax star.

Brands is a fan of his countryman, and he is likely to be looking to convince Benitez that the club need such a player in their ranks.
