Fabrizio Romano delivers big injury update on Abdoulaye Doucoure

Fabrizio Romano has reported on Twitter that Everton midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure will return to action after the next international break.

Doucoure has been superb for Rafael Benitez’s side this season. He picked up a nasty injury during Everton’s 1-0 defeat against West Ham earlier this month.

Although Everton confirmed that he won’t require an operation, there were fears that he could be out lengthy spells on the sideline.

Romano has reported on Twitter that Doucoure will return to training earlier than expected, and he is preparing for his comeback after the international break.

Doucoure has given his approval by replying to Romano’s tweet with emojis.

Big boost

The 28-year-old has been simply brilliant this season, and his potential early return to action will come as a huge boost for Rafael Benitez.

Under the Spaniard, Doucoure has been given the box-to-box midfield role and the licence to join the attack. With his bundles of energy and brilliant technical abilities, he has made a massive difference for the Toffees this season.

Everton are missing several key players, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin being one of them. The Toffees are winless in their last three games in the Premier League, losing both of them.

The 5-2 defeat at home against Watford has really come as a big shock for the club. The midfield was completely overrun, with Tom Davies failing to impress in Doucoure’s absence.

With Andre Gomes not far from getting back to full fitness, Everton will get stronger once the likes of Doucoure and Calvert-Lewin return to action.

The Toffees will face Wolves in their next Premier League clash on Monday night at Molineux. They currently sit eighth in the Premier League table.

In other Everton news, Kevin Campbell has made a transfer suggestion after the Toffees’ horrible defeat to Watford.
