Carlton Palmer rubbishes Alexis Sanchez-Everton links

Carlton Palmer does not believe that former Premier League star Alexis Sanchez will join Everton.

According to InterLive‘s report last week, the Toffees have been linked with a move for the former Arsenal and Manchester United attacker.

Since his failed move to Old Trafford, he joined Inter Milan, but has struggled there as well, and is now linked with a move away from San Siro.

Discussing Everton’s reported pursuit of Sanchez with This Is Futbol, Palmer said, “That’s just paper talk. There’s nothing Alexis Sanchez has done to warrant another big-money move to the Premier League.

“Rafa Benitez is a shrewd manager. That’s not one deal I foresee happening.”

Never happening

Even if Everton genuinely wanted to sign, we believe that they would not be able to afford the Chilean’s wages.

Sanchez was on staggering wages after his move from Arsenal to Manchester United and he surely moved to Italy under similar contractual agreements.

Since leaving Arsenal, his career has gone downhill so we’re surprised how Inter thought they would be getting a good player.

Everton

They’re in a financial mess themselves and are desperately looking to get Sanchez off their books.

Goodison Park is quite simply not going to be his next destination as the Toffees are having troubles with FFP.

Rafa Benitez spent under £2 million in his first summer at the club, which is remarkably low, given how rich the Premier League sides are.

Sanchez was labelled “phenomenal” by Jose Mourinho back in 2018 [ESPN], but a long time has passed since and he’s no longer that world class attacker who was chased by the top European clubs.
