Everton fans will be delighted board did not hire Nuno Espirito Santo

Everton appear to have dodged a bullet by not hiring Portuguese manager Nuno Espirito Santo in the summer.

The former Wolves boss was linked with moves to Crystal Palace as well as Goodison Park, before ultimately joining Tottenham Hotspur.

However, only after 10 league games into the season, the North London side parted ways with him.

Nuno Espirito Santo has been a revelation at Forest

Spurs sit 8th on the table and could fall a place should the Toffees win or draw against Wolves on Monday night.

His style of football was also nothing special and he did little to improve the players in his side.

It’s not like Spurs did not have any money as they shelled out a decent amount to buy talented players and challenge for the top four.

At Everton, not only would he not have any money to spend, there’s a risk that he could’ve taken the club backwards.

The Toffees needed a manager used to working under a tight budget, at least for the first season, and have found the ideal man in Rafa Benitez.

The Spaniard may not have been the most popular choice among the fans, but he is clearly a quality manager who’ll take this team forward.

Hopefully, he’s given the funds to strengthen in January because he is a top tactician and should be allowed to impose his identity on this squad.

His side could end the gameweek in 6th place should they manage to beat Wolves and that’s a start most fans would’ve taken at the start of this campaign.

In other Everton news, the Toffees are the joint-favourites to sign a ‘Fantastic’ int’l midfielder with January move on the cards
