Kevin Campbell hits out at Mike Parry after Calvert-Lewin makes Sky Sports appearance in Everton loss

We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…

Kevin Campbell has blasted Mike Parry after the ex-talkSPORT host flipped a lid on Twitter over Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin appearing on Sky Sports on Monday.

Everton were beaten 2-1 by Wolves at Molineux with Calvert-Lewin still recovering from a thigh injury.

During Sky Sports’ coverage of the Blues’ Premier League loss, Calvert-Lewin worked in the Monday Night Football studio – and that was a huge issue for Parry.

He took to his Twitter account on Monday to say he was “absolutely appalled” to see Calvert-Lewin in the studio and also asked why he isn’t currently being treated for his injury.

Parry’s tweet attracted a lot of criticism due to the sheer idiocy of his remark as he also criticised Calvert-Lewin for saying he’s inspired by Cristiano Ronaldo.

Speaking to Goodison News, ex-Evertonian Campbell is baffled by Parry’s outrage and said that if anything, fans would have enjoyed seeing the 24-year-old striker on their television screens for the Wolves game.

Campbell said: “He can’t play, he’s injured – why can’t he go on?

For me, people who say that, I just don’t understand it.

It’s good to see Calvert-Lewin on Sky and at the end of the day, he’s trying to get back fit but he’s not quite there yet so why shouldn’t he go on and try to support his team?

I don’t see it as a problem. Hearing what he’s got to say is interesting.”
