Simon Jordan accuses Everton players of ‘cheating’, delivers Salomon Rondon verdict
Simon Jordan suggests Everton players are “cheating” all concerned after a torrid run of recent results under Rafa Benitez.
Speaking via talkSPORT [02/11/21], the ex-Crystal Palace chairman didn’t hold back on his assessment of the current Blues crop.
“They’ve got a bang average squad of players, some of them are ageing, a lot of them are overpaid for,” Jordan said.

“They’re heavily reliant on Dominic Calvert-Lewin for goals and he’s not part of it. They’re a hot-potch of four or five different managers vision.
“In essence, Jim, he’s [Rafa Benitez] saying these players are cheating because if they can give it in the training ground, and they can’t give it on matchday, it doesn’t count on the training ground.
“They’re cheating the club, they’re cheating themselves and they’re cheating the manager.”
Jordan also delivered his verdict on the deadline-day signing of Venezuelan centre-forward Salomon Rondon, who is yet to score in eight appearances for the club.
He said: “Rondon isn’t an exciting signing for Everton, is he? He’s a reliable signing that he had previously at Newcastle and he knows he can go to him as a backup striker.”

Cheating, or simply not good enough?
On paper, this Everton team is top-10 quality, but nothing more.
The financial juggernauts of Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United have squads that are streaks ahead of Everton’s while even Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal and Leicester City can claim to be have much stronger players in reserve.
When you take out some of Everton’s most important players such as Richarlison, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Abdoulaye Doucoure, is there any surprise the Blues have floundered in recent weeks?
The quality just isn’t there, and ultimately that is on Marcel Brands and the board for a series of expensive failures over the years.
They were unable to address the glaring issues in the squad during the summer transfer window due to Financial Fair Play issues, but there needs to be a serious injection of cash to reinvigorate this ailing group of players.
