Besiktas open talks with Everton to sign Cenk Tosun in January

Besiktas have reportedly initiated contact with Everton over the potential January signing of striker Cenk Tosun.

According to Fotomac, the Turkish side, who also play in the Champions League, have approached the Toffees as they want to sign the forward halfway through the season.

Manager Sergen Yalcin is also known to be an admirer of the 30-year-old and is keen on bringing him back to his home country.

Time to sell

Tosun’s time at Goodison Park has been an abject failure and the sooner the club can part ways with him the better.

His contract expires at the end of the season anyway so January is the only time they can get something off his sale.

Whether or not Besiktas will be willing to pay a high transfer fee remains to be seen, but it will be bad business from Marcel Brands if he leaves on a free.

While he’s not rated particularly highly by the Everton hierarchy, he does seem to have admirers at Beskitas so it makes sense for the club to cash in while they can.

Per the Liverpool Echo, Tosun’s has the knack to score “fantastic” goals and they will be hoping to sign the player Everton thought they were getting a few years ago.

He seems to have played his last game for the club and we don’t think there are too many on Merseyside who’ll be disappointed with his sale.
