Goodison View: Rafa Benitez will be fuming as Everton man sets unwanted record v Spurs
Rafa Benitez will be fuming with Mason Holgate after he gave away a silly red card in the Everton v Tottenham Hotspur 0-0 draw on Sunday.
The Englishman came on in the 82nd minute in order to keep the scoreline at 0-0.
However, he made a complete mess of the situation and got himself sent off due to a tackle on Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg
With this, he also became the first Toffees substitute to be sent off in over two years, something that will certainly leave the Spaniard fuming.
EFC Statto’s Twitter account wrote, “Mason Holgate is the first #EFC substitute to be sent off since Lucas Digne against Huddersfield in January 2019.”
This will certainly infuriate Benitez as the substitute he sent on failed to do what he expected him to.
Holgate was handed a rare chance to prove himself to the manager, but failed to do so.
He has every reason to be disappointed with his performance against a club of the calibre of Spurs.

The Toffees defender may not have cost his side any points, but he certainly showed why he cannot be relied upon.
For someone like Benitez, who cannot go big in the market for a centre-back, this would come as a major blow.
He knows that Holgate has not done nearly enough to merit a spot in the playing eleven and could be axed from the side should better places be signed in the coming months.
