Jeff Stelling: Benitez may be worried about Everton sack now Aston Villa have got rid of Dean Smith
Jeff Stelling suggests Rafa Benitez may be “worried” about his future at Everton after Aston Villa sacked Dean Smith on Sunday.
Smith became the second managerial casualty of the weekend in the Premier League with Norwich sacking Daniel Farke on Saturday. Newcastle and Watford have also changed managers this season.
After Smith’s exit from Villa Park was confirmed, Stelling suggested that he seriously thinks Benitez may be sweating over his job at Goodison now

“Rafa and [Marcelo] Bielsa might be worried,” said Stelling via his personal Twitter account.
“I know, I know, Leeds fans. Only (half) joking.”
Inevitable
Is it just us, or does it feel as though Benitez will be gone at some point this season no matter what?
Based on how we’ve done this season, we won’t pull up any trees, we won’t do any better than last season and fans aren’t going to be 100 per cent behind the former Liverpool boss.
Benitez could have us in the top four right now but if just one or two results went against us, you know the pressure would be rising.
However, one thing that may keep Benitez in his job is Financial Fair Play because it’s not cheap to sack a newly-hired manager.
Everton played better in the 0-0 draw with Tottenham on Sunday but they’ve been in rotten form themselves and have a new manager trying to force his ways on the side.
With us, we’ve had some awful results and the defeat to Watford was as humiliating as they get.
Benitez probably won’t last long and he probably won’t ever be held in high regard by our fans.
