Goodison Tactics: One area of major concern for Everton in draw with Tottenham
Everton managed to stop the run of three league defeats in a row with a spirited and determined 0-0 draw against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.
However, there were still a few things to potentially worry Rafael Benitez.
Despite this, though, the Toffees were much better at Goodison Park, and though Spurs had the better chances, Everton did deserve to get something out of the game [Sky Sports YouTube].

The side dug in and made life difficult for Spurs, but we can’t imagine Benitez will be too happy with the two huge chances that they allowed Tottenham’s wing-backs to have.
First, Emerson Royal missed a massive chance at the back post.

This was a classic case of a winger not being able to do their defensive duties.
It should only be a problem against teams who play wing-backs, but Gary should do better.
He needed to be more aware of the man behind him, and the Toffees were lucky that Emerson couldn’t keep his header down.
Coleman probably should have done more to stop the cross as well.
The other big chance in the game came from the other side and fell to the other wing-back, Regulion.

So, this was another let-off for the Toffees, and Benitez will be concerned about the next time his side plays against a back three.
However, despite these two scares, this was a much better performance from Everton, and they can take great encouragement from it going forward.
Hopefully, they can build on this result and be more of an attacking threat against Manchester City after the international break.
