Kevin Campbell: Everton need international break to welcome back injured players

We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…

Kevin Campbell has insisted that Everton need to get their injured players back available during the international break.

Allan was forced off in the draw against Spurs, with flu being the reason, something that should have cleared up by now.

As well as that, Campbell added that the Toffees are desperately missing the likes of Abdoulaye Doucoure and Dominic Calvert-Lewin too.

Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, Campbell said, “Obviously, we are in that season now with colds and bugs.

“Football clubs can obviously be rife, but hopefully this international break can clean up a few things at the club.

“Get people healthy because Everton need their full quota of players, without them, they are going to struggle – we need Allan back.

“They need their big players back.”

Needed.

Allan will be back, and based on his flu-like symptoms, he was likely worn down from the amount of football he was playing.

Doucoure’s injury has placed more responsibility onto his shoulders with not many replacements available to Rafa Benitez.

Add to that the injuries to the likes of Yerry Mina and Calvert-Lewin, and these struggles had to be expected.

These two weeks have come at the perfect time, with numerous players needing a rest with the chance to turn things around after the break.

It won’t likely come at Manchester City, but after, there has to a real run of points before we start to really worry about what is happening.
