Kevin Campbell discusses Everton star Jordan Pickford and England

Kevin Campbell believes that Everton star Jordan Pickford will remain England’s main goalkeeper despite the form of Aaron Ramsdale.
The Arsenal goalkeeper was handed his England debut in the 10-0 win over San Marino after a fantastic start to the season for Arsenal [Independent].
However, despite this, the former Toffees striker can’t see Gareth Southgate ditching Pickford as his main goalkeeper.
Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, he said: “I’ve said this many times before, I think possession is ninth tenths of the law.
“Ramsdale has done a fantastic job at Arsenal and didn’t put a foot wrong [on Monday] night.
“He didn’t have much to do, but when he did have anything to do, he [did] it pretty well.
“Pickford, he’s much-maligned at times, but I thought he was outstanding in the Euros.
“He’s the big game player, he’s the one who’s been in the net during the big tournaments, and England have done pretty well.
“So I think it will take a lot to oust him at the moment.”
Pickford faces a battle.
The former Sheffield United goalkeeper has an impressive range of passing and has replaced Bernd Leno as the Gunners’ number one.
So, it looks as though Pickford finally has a bit of competition for his shirt, and if Ramsdale continues to do well, you would think that Southgate might think about making a change.
However, Pickford has always been incredible for his country, and you would think that won’t be forgotten, but it certainly seems as if the former Sunderland man has a battle now.
This should benefit the Toffees as it should lead to Pickford raising his game and keeping the pressure on Ramsdale.
Campbell makes some excellent points as ever, and you would think Pickford’s England spot is safe for now, but that could change by the end of the season if Ramsdale keeps playing well.
So, his future is in his own hands, and hopefully, he rises to the challenge and becomes an even better goalkeeper.
