Kevin Campbell impressed by Everton man Anthony Gordon

We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…

Kevin Campbell has been very impressed by Everton man Anthony Gordon and believes that he will be very confident at the moment.

The former Toffees striker was speaking after the 20-year-old scored two goals for England’s Under-21s against the Czech Republic during the international break.

Gordon has been in and out of the first team this season, with Rafael Benitez choosing to be careful with how much he uses the Toffees academy graduate.

However, speaking exclusively to Goodison News, Campbell heaped loads of praise on Gordon; he said: “I think his confidence is really high.

“When your confidence is high, it makes a huge difference, and you’re seeing him perform now.

“I think Gordon’s got that quality.

“His time will come, he’s a youngster, and I think Rafael Benitez is handling the situation pretty well.

“His confidence is sky-high at the moment, and I bet he can’t wait for the weekend.”

The future is bright.

The Toffees have a tough task at the weekend as they face Manchester City, but Campbell is probably right about Gordon being desperate to play.

His confidence is probably very high right now, and he admitted recently that he sees himself as a game-winner for the Toffees [Daily Mail].

This suggests that he has total confidence in himself to impress in the Premier League.

Given the run of the form that Everton find themselves on, they could probably do a lot worse than play Gordon in more games.

He has energy, drive, and confidence, which are three things that, as a team, the Toffees are without at the moment.

Therefore, we agree with Campbell, and hopefully, Benitez decides to throw Gordon in against City.

The truth is, he can do no worse than what some of the other players are producing at the moment, and at least, he seems capable of having an impact on a game.

In other Everton news, Cenk Tosun wants to leave the Toffees in January.
