Andy Gray: Rafa Benitez will be gone before Everton move into new stadium

Andy Gray does not see Rafa Benitez having a long future at Everton and believes that he will be gone before their move to Bramley-Moore Dock.

In the Sunday Express on 21/11/21/, pg 7, the Toffees legend has slammed the Spaniard for the job he’s done thus far and states that it has nothing to do with his Liverpool links.

He believes that he hasn’t achieved much since winning the Champions League for Toffees’ arch rivals.

Gray said, “It’s got nothing to do with who he has coached previously. It’s what I think he can do now for Everton on the evidence of what he has done since he Liverpool, which isn’t a great deal.”

We don’t think Benitez has enjoyed an illustrious career since he left Liverpool either, but what can one expect him to achieve?

He had a brief stint at Inter Milan before he moved to Chelsea and won the Europa League there.

Then at Napoli, he ended up winning two domestic trophies and the Championship with Newcastle.

While it could be argued that he did not win a Premier League title at Stamford Bridge, he still has done a decent job.

Everton is clearly a step down in comparison to what he’s achieved at his peak and maybe Goodison Park could help him rise in stature once again.

He also needs to be backed in the transfer market, something that’s not happened in the summer.
