Gary Neville tears into Everton man Michael Keane

Gary Neville was furious with the performance of Everton man Michael Keane against Manchester City.

The 28-year-old nearly gave away two penalties with two clumsy challenges, and Neville slammed the former Burnley man for being so naive.

In the first half, he stuck a leg out to try and stop Raheem Sterling, and Stuart Attwell pointed to the spot.

Luckily, VAR saved him on that occasion, but then he appeared to kick Bernardo Silva in the second half, and that sparked Neville’s rant on Sky Sports.

He said: “I just think he’s got to get that out of his game, Michael Keane; he got away with one in the first half.

“He just kicks out. Got to be really sure when you are in and around this quality, you will give penalties away if you keep dangling your leg out.”

Keane continues to struggle.

The former England international got away with one in the first half, but he didn’t learn from that and went in for another rash tackle.

Luckily, he got away with it again, but you can see why Neville had a go at him.

Also, if he hasn’t learned to not dive in at the age of 28, when will he ever learn?

Keane is in poor form at the moment, and you would think that when Yerry Mina returns, Rafael Benitez could have to put the centre-back on the bench because he is really struggling.

There wasn’t a lot he could have done about City’s goals, but these rash tackles suggest that he just isn’t quite at it for whatever reason.

It will be intriguing to see if he plays against Brentford next week as the Toffees look to get back to winning ways as their current form isn’t good enough at the moment, and something needs to change.
