Adam Jones: Tyler Onyango was 'exquisite' for Everton U23s v Brighton

Adam Jones has been blown away by what Everton sensation Tyler Onyango did in the 2-1 U23s win against Brighton on Monday evening.

He made his Premier League debut against Manchester City on Sunday and was back to his accustomed level of football the following day.

The 18-year-old put in an exceptional shift with his high energy performances from midfield.

Writing about the game in the Liverpool Echo, Jones said, “In midfield, Tyler Onyango, fresh off the back of his Premier League debut a day previously, was tasked with a box-to-box role as the Blues seemingly lined up with a 4-5-1 formation.

“The teenager’s positioning in getting back was exquisite, and his desire to join every attack was there for all to see.

“His usually intricate passing wasn’t quite there on every occasion, but he’s still coming back from a long-term injury. Even a display this good was certainly impressive.”

Currently, it seems like it’s better watching the U23s than the senior side.

Given the number of injuries, Rafa Benitez has been struggling at the helm as he was not handed the funds in the summer to strengthen this squad.

What appeared to be like a bottom-half side on paper at the start of the season seemed like they were in good shape in the initial few weeks.

However, this is a more realistic interpretation of where things are, at the moment.

Onyango has impressed and we will not be surprised if he’s going to be included in the matchday squads for the next few weeks.

He is undoubtedly a talented youngster with bags of potential and energy and could one day become a first-team regular.
