View: Rafa Benitez must use Lewis Dobbin after impressive performance for Everton U23s

Everton boss Rafa Benitez must unleash Lewis Dobbin against Brentford after his impressive performance for the Under-23s on Monday.

The Toffees suffered a massive blow last week after Demarai Gray got injured against Manchester City. Gray has been outstanding for the club since joining in the summer, but it seems he could be out for at least six weeks [El Bobble].

With Dominic Calvert-Lewin still out injured, and Alex Iwobi failing to ooze confidence, Benitez should unleash the young talent who produced his “best performance” against Brighton Under-23s on Monday.

The Athletic claim that he was “the best player” on the pitch and for the first 45 minutes, he was simply “untouchable”.

Everton have now gone six games without a win and the pressure is gradually mounting on the Spaniard.

Dobbin has been a standout player at Finch Farm and has featured twice for Benitez’s side from the bench this season.

Last week, we saw Marcelo Bielsa using teenage striker Joe Gelhardt and he did a brilliant job against Tottenham Hotspur. Dobbin has got tremendous potential, and he should be integrated into the mix. If not now, then when?

It is also the best time for Benitez to make a call whether he has what it takes to become a regular member of the senior side.

He is out of contract next July and, as of now, talks are yet to resume over a new deal. Losing him would be a big blow.

The 18-year-old has struggled for opportunities, but the ground is now ready for Benitez to unleash him.

In other Everton news, the Toffees are plotting January loan-to-buy bid for centre-mid hailed by Jack Grealish last month.
