Abdoulaye Doucoure to have fitness test ahead of Everton v Brentford

Everton have been handed a potential injury boost with Abdoulaye Doucoure set to have a late fitness test ahead of the Brentford clash this weekend.

In his press conference, Rafa Benitez said that he could be one of the players who could be available for the clash.

He said, “He’s one player who maybe could be available. It’s a metatarsal issue, [so] if he’s fine then he’s fine. We have to make sure everything is healed and the player is confident.”

Ben Dinnery, who is an injury expert, wrote on Premier Injuries, that this issue means he will undergo a late fitness test and has a 50 percent chance of making the team.

Good news

Doucoure’s injury came at the worst possible time for Benitez and Everton and it led to a decline in form.

He’s formed an extremely good understanding with Allan in the middle of the park and even the Brazilian has not been the same without his partner.

A late fitness test is a good sign as he is fit enough to be in contention for the game and has not been ruled out by the Spaniard either.

Whether or not he starts remains to be seen, but Benitez will certainly have the feeling of throwing him straight into the eleven.

He may be advised to give him 30 minutes off the bench or at best, one half of football.

We’re eager to welcome the Frenchman back to this side as his absence has been dearly felt and hopefully, his return can see the Toffees get back to winning ways.

In other Everton news, a football finance expert has claimed that the Toffees may face an exodus after their £266m outlay
