Alex Iwobi favourite to come into Everton side v Brentford

Everton attacker Alex Iwobi appears to be the obvious choice to replace Demarai Gray for the Brentford clash on Sunday, according to the Liverpool Echo.

Gray suffered an injury in the loss against Manchester City and Iwobi was the one who came on for him.

Despite Lewis Dobbin impressing for the U-23s and Anthony Gordon having a few good cameos for the senior team, the former Arsenal man seems the favourite to come in.

Good move?

It’s hard to replace a player of Gray’s calibre, given how well he’s started this season.

However, the unfortunate decision has to be made by Rafa Benitez and Iwobi, unfortunately for some, proves to be the most obvious choice.

If the Spaniard wants to do something different, we would reckon that Dobbin makes an incredible left-field choice.

With all due respect to Brentford, they’re not a team to cause too many problems for Everton and this could be the perfect game to unleash the youngster.

Thomas Frank will not even expect this to happen and Dobbin, with all his energy and hunger to impress, could hand Benitez a much-needed win.

Whether or not the Spaniard decides to go in this direction instead of Iwobi, a player who’s been described as “incredible” by Benitez himself, remains to be seen.
