Everton consider transfer for £70m-rated striker Dusan Vlahovic

Everton are keeping tabs on wantaway Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic, according to 90min.

The Serbian is the joint-top scorer in Serie A this season with 10 goals in 13 appearances, including two to help the Viola beat AC Milan 4-3 last weekend.

Calciomercato have suggested that Juventus are ready to snap Vlahovic up, but there is also plenty of Premier League interest.

90min claims that Everton, along with Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal, and Newcastle United are interested in signing the 21-year-old, who they state has been “scintillating” form.

The report adds that Fiorentina would rather sell to an English club instead of Juve, while Vlahovic’s representatives were in England this month to open negotiations.

The striker has rejected a new deal at Stadio Artemio Franchi and will be available for £70m.

Deal unlikely

Vlahovic has emerged as one of Europe’s hottest prospects over the last 18 months. His electric start to the current campaign follows a Serie A tally of 21 goals last season – only bettered by Cristiano Ronaldo, Romelu Lukaku and Luis Muriel.

He has also established himself at international level, netting seven times in 14 caps for Serbia since his debut in October 2020.

It seems likely that Everton would only go for Vlahovic if Dominic Calvert-Lewin was to leave Goodison Park, as it would be difficult to accommodate both players in the same team.

£70m would also be a hefty price tag for the Toffees to pay and would smash their current transfer record of £40m, which they paid for Gylfi Sigurdsson in 2017.

Add in the fact that some of Vlahovic’s other potential suitors will be able to offer him Champions League football, and a move to Goodison Park seems slightly fanciful.
