View: Everton receive massive injury boost ahead of Brentford clash

Everton have received a massive boost ahead of their Premier League clash against Brentford this weekend.

The Athletic journalist Patrick Boyland has reported on Twitter that Abdoulaye Doucoure has returned to full fitness and he is training with the first-team squad.

The 28-year-old took to Twitter yesterday to deliver a positive message for the fans. He posted an emoji saying “soon“. His return to fitness has come at the perfect time.

Doucoure has been brilliant this season so far, with The Athletic describing him as “outstanding”.

He picked up a metatarsal injury in October and the club initially feared that he would be out for a lengthy period of time.

The combative midfielder shone in the early part of the season after he was given extra freedom to express by Rafael Benitez.

Using his mobility, Benitez has made him a superb box-to-box midfielder who chipped in two goals and four assists before he picked up the injury.

In fact, his influence in the side was so profound that it drew the attention of Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher who hailed him as one of the “standout players in the Premier League so far this season”.

In his absence, Everton have struggled badly, having failed to win in the last six games. However, it seems he will play some part against Brentford.

The likes of Andre Gomes, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Demarai Gray have also started light training, so it won’t be long before Benitez has the full-strength squad at his disposal once again.

In other Everton news, one out of favour Toffee is being tipped for a January loan exit.
