Everton trio doing light training ahead of Brentford clash

The Athletic journalist Patrick Boyland has shared on Twitter that Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin has been doing light training.

Ahead of the Toffees’ Premier League clash against Brentford, Boyland has shared that Demarai Gray and Andre Gomes have joined the England striker in the training room.

Abdoulaye Doucoure has returned to full training, while two youngsters – Lewis Dobbin & Ryan Astley – are training with the first-team squad.

Boyland wrote on Twitter: “Latest batch of Everton training photos, from yesterday, show Demarai Gray, DCL & Andre Gomes doing light work. Abdoulaye Doucoure + youngsters Lewis Dobbin & Ryan Astley with main group”

Finally some boost for Rafa

Everton have failed to win in their last six games in the Premier League, and Rafa Benitez doesn’t deserve all the blame.

The squad has been severely ravaged by injuries, and Benitez is practically helpless.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin, the club’s main striker, hasn’t played since August, while Andre Gomes has been a long-term absentee as well.

Gray picked up an abductor injury against Manchester City last week. Initially it was feared that he will be out for at least six weeks, but after two scans, the club is hopeful that he can recover quickly.

The winger has started light training as well, and it won’t be long before all these three players return to the first-team squad.

The return of Doucoure is a massive boost. With Tom Davies out injured and Allan doubtful, Benitez is running out of options.

On top of that Richarlison has been suspended for the clash against Brentford after picking up five yellow cards.

In other Everton news, one out of favour Toffee is being tipped for a January loan exit.
