Michael Owen predicts result for Everton clash v Brentford

Everton will take a trip to Brentford on Sunday in their next Premier League clash.

Ahead of the game, Michael Owen has predicted a 2-1 win for the Toffees.

The former great England striker has suggested that Everton’s experience could make a difference here, although their squad has been blighted by injuries.

“Goals have been on the menu all season long for Brentford and up against an Everton side that are blighted with injuries and suspensions, they’ll be quietly confident of getting something here,” wrote Owen for BetVictor.

“That said, it’s a new kind of pressure when you are fancied to win, not something the home side have been used to since their promotion to the Premier League. I’m not surprised to see some people fancying Brentford in this one, but I think Everton’s experience could be vital here and think they can take the points home.”

Dire situation

Everton are without a win in their past six games in the Premier League and Rafael Benitez is under tremendous pressure at the moment.

The Toffees are heading into this match on the back of a demoralising 3-0 defeat against Manchester City, and they are bereft of confidence.

It won’t be an easy game for the visitors, with the squad still missing some important players.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Demarai Gray have resumed light training, and they won’t take any part in this game.

Richarlison is also absent for this clash through suspension after the Brazilian picked up his fifth yellow card of the season against City.

It will be interesting to see how Benitez shapes up his squad for this game. The Spaniard, however, will be boosted by the return of Abdoulaye Doucoure.

Brentford have lost four and drawn once in their last five Premier League games, and Everton could fancy their chance here.
