Richarlison returns as Salomon Rondon axed in three changes - Predicted Everton XI v Liverpool

Richarlison is set to return to the Everton side as Liverpool make the short trip to Goodison Park on Wednesday in the first Merseyside derby of the season.

The Brazilian was suspended for the 1-0 defeat at Brentford on Sunday but will be desperate to come back in and help Everton break their current three-game goalless run.

Naming the 24-year-old in the starting XI could be one of three changes Rafa Benitez makes in his first Merseyside derby as Blues boss.

None of those changes are likely to be at the back, however, with Yerry Mina still sidelined, as confirmed by Rafa Benitez in his pre-match press conference on Tuesday, and Mason Holgate serving the final match of his three-match ban.

Therefore, Seamus Coleman, Michael Keane, Ben Godfrey and Lucas Digne should line up in front of Jordan Pickford again.

Abdoulaye Doucoure made his return from injury at the weekend, playing the entirety of the defeat in West London, and he may be set for a more advanced role against the Reds.

That’s because Fabian Delph, who has made just two starts this season, could join Allan in the middle of midfield as the Blues look to add more protection against a side that have scored more than two goals in all but one of their 20 matches this term.

Delph’s inclusion should see Alex Iwobi drop out of the starting XI.

There could be a couple of changes in attack as Richarlison returns from suspension, with Demarai Gray also set to start after coming off the bench against Brentford.

Anthony Gordon and 32-year-old Salomon Rondon are set to be the casualties as Andros Townsend keeps his place on the right.

Here’s how Everton are expected to line up at Goodison on Wednesday…
