Kevin Campbell rips into key Everton man live on air

Kevin Campbell has torn into Everton board member Marcel Brands on BBC Radio 5Live.

Darren Fletcher asked the former Toffees striker to explain the current situation at Goodison Park, and he attached no blame to Rafael Benitez.

Instead, all of his attention was on Farhad Moshiri and Brands.

The Toffees’ director of football came in for some particularly harsh criticism, and you do have to question what he has done or failed to achieve in his time on Merseyside so far.

Campbell said: “The owner and the club have spent a fortune, and Marcel Brands has been there.

“What is Brands’ remit? He’s supposed to have a history of bringing young players in. Where are they?

“You are telling me you have spent £500million, and you don’t have a strong squad.

“I believe the fans have been very patient, but the patience is wearing thin now because they’re seeing their club hit a very skiddy patch.”

Campbell hits the nail on the head.

This is a passionate and well-argued speech from Campbell, and he is spot on with everything.

Brands has been with the Toffees for some time now, and his work in the transfer market hasn’t been good enough.

The likes of Jame Rodriguez and Moise Kean have come and gone, while Alex Iwobi continues to prove that he was a massive waste of money.

Certainly, you would think that a bit more scrutiny should be aimed in his direction, given his failure to operate in the transfer market.

Now, it isn’t all his fault, but he has been at Goodison Park long enough to take the brunt of the blame.

How can the Toffees be left with their current squad after spending so much money? It is pathetic when you look at it properly.

Overall, Campbell made some great points, and it was nice to see him supporting the Everton fans as well.

In other Everton news, the board have held an emergency meeting about the current situation.
