Everton still to agree £1.5m exit deal with Marcel Brands

Everton are in line to pay departing director of football Marcel Brands some or all of his £1.5million plus deal, according to The Athletic.

The Toffees are yet to agree the terms of his exit which could include a non-disclosure agreement as well.

The club made the decision official on Sunday (December 5) that he had been relieved of his duties after two years in charge.

Mixed stint?

To fault Brands for all the problems at Everton would not be fair as he was just a small part of the entire Goodison Park machinery.

There certainly were players he overpaid for, who didn’t fit the fabric of the football club.

However, in terms of managerial appointments, he had very little say in who the right man for the job would be.

Carlo Ancelotti was not understood to be his choice and the same can be said about Rafa Benitez.

It’s important that the club now go for someone who’s best in class and has the experience of signing players with high potential on the cheap.

FFP may have played a role in the shoddy recruitment, but the Toffees risk going further backwards if this cycle continues.

Farhad Moshiri has to stop making repeated blunders and let the football people make the football decisions.

The club’s in shambles currently and he’s doing very little to change the fact.
