Laura Woods thrilled by ‘angry’ Richarlison after Everton beat Arsenal 2-1
Laura Woods has praised Richarlison’s perseverance after he struck the equaliser for Everton in their 2-1 win over Arsenal on Monday night (6 December).
Richarlison, 24, scored a superb 79th minute at Goodison Park to draw the game level before Demarai Gray’s stoppage-time stunner saw Everton claim a vital three points.
“Let’s talk about Richarlison,” Woods said via talkSPORT on Tuesday morning (7 December).

“He must have been scratching his head after the first two goals he scored were disallowed, both offside.
“But then to get that goal and to keep up the spirit, because you would imagine it must have made him angry, which is why he kept going, I actually felt like he really deserved that goal.”
“You’d be raging, wouldn’t you?”, co-host Ally McCoist later said about the decisiosn.

Fired up
Richarlison is someone that plays on the edge, and that was certainly on show last night.
Sometimes it can be a bad thing as he can display petulance and his temperament can get the better of him, leading to unnecessary fouls and bookings.
But he overcame his frustration in the best way against the Gunners as he dragged Everton back into the game with his equaliser.
His first two efforts were ruled out by the narrowest of margins by the VAR, but he battled back to score a sensational header after Gray’s effort crashed off the crossbar.
With Dominic Calvert-Lewin still missing, and Salomon Rondon out now too, it was all on Richarlison to lead the line and snap the Blues out of their winless run.
He did that, and it was left to Gray to snatch the three points and send Goodison into raptures.
