Brighton enter race to sign Everton-linked Cyle Larin

Brighton have reportedly entered the race to sign Besiktas forward Cyle Larin, who has been linked with a move to Everton.

According to TEAMtalk, the 26-year-old has appeared on the radar of the Seagulls, with West Ham, Southampton and the Toffees being linked with a move for him.

The Canada international’s contract at the Turkish club expires in the summer after which he will become a free agent.

As the aforementioned sides are overseas, they could open talks with him in January ahead of signing him for free at the end of the season.

Worth pursuing

The Toffees’ financial struggles are well documented and were apparent after Rafa Benitez walked through the door in the summer.

With the squad on the cusp of reaching the next level, they were hamstrung by FFP guidelines.

This saw the Spaniard being able to sign just one player in Demarai Gray for a transfer fee, with the likes of Andros Townsend, Asmir Begovic and Salomon Rondon coming as free agents.

While things might improve until the summer, saying no to a talented 26-year-old, who is also going to be a free agent, would not be the wisest thing to do.

He comes in highly recommended as well, as regular watches of the Canadian have waxed lyrical over him.

The 26-year-old is a player who had been labelled “phenomenal” a few years ago by 18 Futbol.

He would be an ideal signing for the Toffees and it remains to be seen whether Brighton manage to steal a march and bring him to the club ahead of the Merseyside outfit.
