Everton have reportedly informed the representatives of Denis Zakaria that they hold an interest in signing the Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder.

According to 90Min, a number of Premier League sides are keeping tabs on the 25-year-old, whose contract expires at the end of the season.

The Switerzland international is understood to have told the German club that he's not going to be extending it, which paves the way for foreign sides to open talks with him in January ahead of signing him on a free in the summer.

Good signing?

Zakaria is an all-action midfield player who's extremely versatile and can slot into numerous positions.

He's a defensive midfielder by trade, but can also put in a shift at centre-back.

This is key in the modern game as the deepest lying midfielders often drop deep during the build-up from the back and look like an extra central defender.

Zakaria is known to be a player admired for his physicality and ability to pick out a stellar pass.

Ahead of the 2018 World Cup, Career Mode Stars wrote a glowing review of the player on their Twitter feed.

They said, "Physical midfielder, great for breaking up play and ploughing through the midfield with good pace, magnificent strength and height."

Every team needs a player like Zakaria and the fact that he's available for free, makes it a no brainer.

Hopefully, the club open talks in January and convince him to move to Goodison Park.
