Dr Dan: Marcel Brands exit paves way for massive Everton restructuring
We’re delighted to welcome football finance expert Dr Daniel Plumley as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Everton...
Everton may change the way they operate after announcing director of football Marcel Brands’ exit earlier this month.
That is according to Dr Dan Plumley, who claims that he may not be the only high-profile departure for the Toffees.
He foresees a few other people in high positions on the Everton board to follow Brands out of the exit door.

Head of recruitment Gretar Steinsson’s future, given his links with Marcel Brands, also hangs in the balance, according to The Athletic.
This proposed mass exodus may be something that could excite the Goodison Park faithful.
Discussing this situation, Dr Dan, the Sheffield Hallam University expert, told Goodison News, “Brands’ exit could see a change in the way Everton operate. There could be many at the boardroom level that also leave the club.
“[Rafa] Benitez possibly wanted more of a say in the transfers. So this could be viewed as a positive by the fans.
“They might think that it’s best for all parties so it actually might be a positive moving forward.“

After his Everton exit, Brands has already been linked with another high-profile job.
Voetbal International report that the Dutchman is high on the list of potential candidates to replace Nico-Jan Hoogma as the Netherlands FA’s director of football.
