Rafa Benitez addresses Everton January transfers post Brands exit

Rafa Benitez stated that Everton are busy working on the restructuring of the club when asked about their plans in the January transfer window.

Marcel Brands was relieved of his duties earlier this week and was followed out of the door by two high-profile members in their backroom staff.

However, Benitez refused to confirm or deny whether or not they’re looking to bring players in during the window.

He said, “At the moment, my main job is to concentrate on the games. At the same time, the club is trying to manage the new structure. They are working on that. You keep an eye on that, but as I say the priority is just the games.”

Need players

It’s a good thing that Everton are planning to restructure their backroom activities.

Benitez wasn’t given too much to do in the summer and he would be expecting a greater say in what goes on at the club.

Hopefully, Farhad Moshiri, who brought the Spaniard to Goodison Park hands him the funds required to strengthen the squad.

Demarai Gray is Benitez’s only signing who arrived for a transfer fee with the rest being signed on free transfers.

If the Toffees are to finish in the top half this season then they need to add quality players to their side.

Moshiri knows that it would bring in revenues and get them a step closer to qualifying for Europe, which will be pivotal going into the new stadium in a few years.
