Rafa Benitez provides latest Everton team news v Crystal Palace

Everton will travel to Selhurst Park to face Crystal Palace in the Premier League clash on Sunday.

Ahead of the match, Rafael Benitez has provided the latest fitness update of his squad where he delivered positive news about Tom Davies and Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

The Spaniard has revealed that Davies will return to action shortly after injury forced him out of the side.

“Yerry is not available. Rondon is available and has been training, and Allan has done today half of a training session,” said Benitez, as quoted by the Liverpool Echo.

“And still we have Davies, maybe next week he will start with the team.”

“Dominic is getting closer, obviously. Every training session that he is doing with the rehabilitation coach, he’s getting better.”

Boost

Benitez is expected to delve into the January transfer window and buy players of his choice, although he won’t be getting a massive transfer kitty.

With Marcel Brands now gone, the Spaniard will now have the final say in the transfer dealings.

But most importantly, he will be pinning hopes on the existing players at the club, at least for this season.

The Toffees ended their eight-game-without-a-win nightmare spell with a dramatic victory against the Gunners on Monday night.

Benitez will be pleased to see that Allan, Davies and Calvert-Lewin are now close to returning to action. It won’t be long before they start playing again.

Davies has struggled with form and consistency in previous years, and this is probably his last chance to make a strong impact and cement his place in the side.

Last season, Nigel Martyn praised him as “outstanding”, but he has often come under criticism from the fans.

He will add depth to the squad, no doubt, but it’s time for him to prove his true quality and make an impact.

Crystal Palace have lost their last three games in a row.

In other Everton news, Benitez has provided an update on Salomon Rondon’s fitness.
