Kenwright makes feeling clear on Benitez to Moshiri after Everton defeat to Crystal Palace

Everton Chairman Bill Kenwright has made his feelings clear to owner Farhad Moshiri on the future of Rafa Benitez, according to El Bobble.

The Toffees insider claims the Spaniard’s time at Goodison Park now lies in the hands of British-Iranian businessman

The reliable Everton insider – followed on Twitter by The Times journalist Paul Joyce – posted the update on their account on Sunday (12 December) evening after the 3-1 loss to Crystal Palace.

They said: “Everton Chairman, Bill Kenwright, has made his feelings clear to Farhad Moshiri.

“Rafa Benitez’s time at Everton Football Club now lies in the hands of Farhad Moshiri.”

Kenwright has had enough?

Jamie Carragher claimed on Monday Night Football earlier in December that the Toffees chairman would not have wanted Benitez as manager in the first place, and it appears he has had enough.

Everton have made recent changes at board level, with director of football Marcel Brands and head of recruitment and development Gretar Steinsson both leaving, but nothing has changed on the pitch, and Kenwright would not have been pleased with what he saw at Selhurst Park on Sunday.

He has been the chairman of the Merseysiders since 2004, but recent performances have been very woeful and he could be wishing they never appointed the Spaniard as Carlo Ancelotti’s replacement in the summer.

He does not have the final say, though, and it remains to be seen whether Moshiri feels the same way.

The Blues owner recently made it clear he wants to back Rafa in the transfer market, and that could see him wait till next year before making a decision on his future.

Everton

The results do need to improve if the manager wants to be under less pressure at Goodison Park going forward, though, and that will be his only mission this season.

In other Everton news, the Toffees are plotting January loan-to-buy bid for centre-mid hailed by Jack Grealish last month.
