Rafa Benitez pushing Everton to sign Juventus midfielder Aaron Ramsey

Everton reportedly remain interested in signing Juventus midfielder Aaron Ramsey in January, despite being told it will cost them £42million in wages.

According to the Sunday Mirror (Pg. 64, 12/12/2021), the Serie A side are desperate to get him off their wage bill and will allow him to leave on free to get the deal over the line.

Rafa Benitez is understood to be a huge admirer and is pushing to make the deal happen in January.

The numbers mentioned in that report are staggering and it’s baffling to even suggest that Everton can afford it.

They’ve had such troubles with FFP in the past few months that they couldn’t even back Benitez in the transfer market.

Demarai Gray was the only player who arrived for a fee while the likes of Salomon Rondon, Asmir Begovic and Andros Townsend all came for free.

To think that they would be able to make Ramsey one of the highest earners in the Premier League, is frankly ridiculous.

Sure, Benitez may want him, like Carlo Ancelotti wanted all those big names, but at the end of the day, the Toffees have to live within their means.

Even if Ramsey was a tempting prospect, which he currently is not, he is not a player who Everton can afford to bring in.
