Arsenal want to sign Everton star Dominic Calvert-Lewin as two strikers set to leave Gunners
Arsenal want to sign Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin but a January bid appears unlikely, according to football.london.
Calvert-Lewin, 24, has been sidelined since August but his stock remains high after scoring three goals in as many games at the start of the 2021/22 campaign before injury struck him down.
Football.london claim the England international is “among a number of players” Arsenal are looking at in the centre-forward position, with Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah both likely to depart the Emirates Stadium when their contracts expire at the end of the season.

Furthermore, star striker and captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has courted controversy over the last few days as he was left out of Arsenal’s 3-0 win over Southampton on Saturday (11 December) due to an alleged breach of club protocols.
However, it is deemed “unlikely” that recent events will accelerate a move for Calvert-Lewin, particularly given his lack of game time this season and the cost to prise him from Goodison Park.

DCL set to stay
There could be a high-profile Everton exit in 2022, but it’s unlikely to be Calvert-Lewin, and it certainly won’t be in January.
Given their current perilous position in the Premier League, Everton cannot countenance selling one of their best players midway through the season, particularly given their inability to recruit well in recent years.
However, Richarlison seems set to leave the Blues next summer, with PSG and Real Madrid mooted as likely destinations.
That means Calvert-Lewin has to stay – if the goals of both are removed from the team, what’s left?
Everton should be building their side around Calvert-Lewin, and given his injury issues this season, he might feel that he owes them one more, injury-free campaign.
If, after the end of the 2022/23 campaign, Everton have shown no signs of progressing, then supporters would surely understand any interest in moving on.
But, for now, an exit is not imminent, particularly to Arsenal.
In other Everton news, the Blues are ready to trigger the release clause of this ‘Incredible’ 25-year-old La Liga star in January.
