Alan Myers responds to claims Everton are set to sign Dynamo Kyiv star Vitaly Mykolenko
Alan Myers claims he is unaware of any Everton interest in signing Dynamo Kyiv left-back Vitaly Mykolenko.
The Sky Sports news editor, formerly head of media and director of communications at Everton, was asked by a Blues fan on Tuesday evening (14 December) whether the club were close to signing Ukraine star Mykolenko.
Various news outlets in the 22-year-old’s homeland reported on the same day that he could be on his way to Goodison Park, such as Zorya Londonsk on Twitter.

But, answering via his personal Twitter profile after an Everton fan asked whether he had heard anything about it, Myers appeared to play down suggestions anything could be imminent.
“Not aware of that,” Myers wrote.
Jumping the gun?
Dynamo Kyiv Inside seem to suggest that something could be announced in the next week or so, but that seems unlikely given Myers’ Tuesday claim.
After a lengthy period at the club, Myers still retains close connections and is usually one of the first to break news on the Blues.
He claims that he has not heard anything on him, suggesting a deal is either nowhere near imminent or he is not even aware that Everton have an interest in Mykolenko.
That’s doesn’t mean the claims in Ukraine are without substantiation – Everton may well be looking at him with a view to a move. After all, Mykolenko was a starter for Ukraine at the European Championship and has been playing in the Champions League for Dynamo Kyiv this season, attracting the attention of a host of top European clubs.
It’s one to keep an eye on, particularly in light of Lucas Digne’s fall-out with Rafa Benitez, but suggestions anything could be confirmed soon appear wide of the mark.
In other Everton news, the Blues have made an approach to sign this Spain-born sensation on loan in January.
