Kevin Campbell passionately defends Seamus Coleman and attacks Everton
We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…
Kevin Campbell believes Everton should have helped Seamus Coleman out a long time ago.
The former Toffees striker thinks that his old club should have signed a replacement or a backup right-back so that they don’t have to rely on the 33-year-old as much.
However, he still thinks that Coleman is a great player and that he just needs to be protected a little bit because of how loyal he has been to the Toffees.

Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, he said: “I think Everton’s problem is they don’t have a ready-made replacement for Seamus Coleman.
“If I’m honest with you, Seamus Coleman should be sharing the minutes with someone else.
“He can still perform, 100% he can still perform, but when there’s a lot of games, he should be managed a lot better, but the problem is, it’s such a big drop-off when he doesn’t play that Everton have never really addressed that right-back spot.
“Maybe too much is being asked of Seamus? He’s been such a great servant for Everton; he needs to be helped as well.
“[There are] three games a week, he can play two.
“He should be managed now.”
Coleman has made 363 appearances for Everton, which, given he is only 33, is incredible, really [transfermarkt].
He has been one of the best right-backs in the league for a long time, but this season, the lack of another option is really starting to cause problems.

He has also been injured, and during the defeat against Crystal Palace, he appeared to suffer another injury, so the Toffees need a new right-back to provide Coleman with some relief.
So, we will have to see what happens, but it is clear Everton need a new right-back to help out their loyal right-back as he approaches the end of his career.
In other Everton news, Rafael Benitez has provided some positive injury news.
