Everton could have signed Liverpool star Andy Robertson
Liverpool star Andy Robertson has revealed that he could have signed for Everton before joining the Anfield club.
Robertson has been a revelation since moving to Liverpool in 2017 from Hull, who he joined after just a single season with Dundee United back in 2014.
But before joining Hull that summer, Robertson has revealed that there was interest from the blue half of Merseyside with then-manager Roberto Martinez taking an interest in his signature.

A long-term injury to Everton defender Bryan Oviedo against Stevenage back in January 2014 led Martinez to scout for a new signing, and Robertson grabbed his attention.
The 27-year-old told BT Sport‘s ‘What I Wore’ series that there were talks about a move to Goodison Park, but he thought it was too soon in his career.
“My year at Dundee United, I loved it. I didn’t want to leave,” said the Liverpool left-back.
“I was only there for one year and when Hull came calling I thought it was too soon. I thought I was ready, but I loved Dundee United. We had such a good, young team then and we were all playing so well.
“In the January at Dundee, I remember Everton tried to sign me.
“Roberto Martinez came up and watched me and they wanted to loan me back to Dundee. I knew there was going to be interest in the summer, but how strong the interest was going to be I didn’t know.”
In the end Everton used Luke Garbutt, recalling him from a loan spell at Colchester United, instead of signing Robertson.

What could have been
Imagine a deal to bring Robertson to Goodison Park had happened back then, just how different would Merseyside be today?
Currently the Scotland captain, he makes up one quarter of a fearsome defence that has won everything with Liverpool while Everton are constantly looking to improve their situation.
The Blues have Lucas Digne as the first-choice in that position currently and have done since Leighton Baines’ retirement, but even his future is up in the air now and it may not be long until they’re on the hunt for a new left-back.
If Robertson’s progression over the years is anything to go by, then the Toffees should trust their scouting department and bring in a young talent who could go on to make the position his own just like Robertson would have.
