Sky Sports share major update on Everton bid to sign Ukraine star Vitaliy Mykolenko

Sky Sports have shared a major update on Dynamo Kyiv left-back Vitaliy Mykolenko as he seemingly closes in on a move to Everton.

Writing via the Sky Sports Transfer Centre on Thursday (20:31, 16 December), they wrote: “Everton are interested in signing Dynamo Kyiv defender Vitaliy Mykolenko in January.

“The 22-year-old would cost around £20m with any transfer fee being spread across the length of his contract.”

Imminent

This looks to be a move that could be announced any minute, with Dynamo Kyiv manager Mircea Lucescu confirming that Mykolenko is set to join Everton [Telekom Sport].

Indeed, Rafa Benitez did not distance himself when asked about the full-back in his post-Chelsea conference on Thursday, when the Toffees secured a 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge.

Mykolenko appears destined for Everton, but what happens with Lucas Digne remains to be seen.

Currently, the Frenchman is the only senior left-back at the club, and spending £20million on a new left-back is likely to lead to speculation over his future, particularly in light of recent events.

Before succumbing to illness pre-Chelsea, Digne had been left out of the previous two matchday squads, owing to a disagreement with Benitez.

He was, however, destined to start against Chelsea, according to the Blues boss.

But this expected transfer or Mykolenko could heighten speculation that Digne is set to leave Everton.

In other Everton news, the Blues are plotting a bid for this Dutch sensation ripping up a European league.
